We currently have 12 players signed up to play Tuesday. Please do not wait to sign up. Sunday 8:00 PM hard cutt off .

Our tee time starts at 8:28AM. Or could be a little earlier. It will be a shotgun start. As a note, if the course is 90 degree, we need to keep the pace of play to 4 hours 15 minutes latest 4 and 1/2. If we cannot maintain pace of play we may be pushed to tee off in a sequential manner the next time we play there.

The restaurant is now open for business.

Now, as for the weather, it is anybody’s guess, So course details and formats will be out on Monday night. thanks

My Hole-In-One Story

I was anxious to relay my hole-In-One story to the Amoco teammates yesterday. So anxious that I left home at Sugar Land not paying attention to what the weather could be. I left early at about 6:30am to beat the traffic that would build up because of rain! It was about an hour’s drive.  I got to the golf course, Cypresswood at 7:40am for my 8:44am Tee time to see that a text was sent out 6 minutes after I left home cancelling the game.  I took the long drive back home to continue my sleep where I left it. 

Anyway, The hole-in-one was at Cypresswood, Cypress last week Thursday. Hole number 5.  Playing from the Silver Tee, the distance to the middle of the green was 119 yards as indicated on the scorecard.  The pin placement was at the back. I estimated it would be about 130 yards. I used my 9-Iron and it was a textbook shot.  The ball trajectory was perfect, right at the flag.  Landed a few yards to the flag and must have rolled in.  We saw it land on the green but didn’t  wait to watch it come to rest before we walked back to the cart. Nice shot!  That’s what my team mates all said.

When we got to the green, I didn’t see my ball on the green and just assumed it rolled past the green. Where’s my ball? It was a joke when my cart mate said it is in the cup then.  I took my putter and the wedge I may need to chip the ball back to the green and left to search for it.  My cart mate walking to his own ball on the other side of the green went by the flag and shouted ‘it’s in!’. I couldn't believe it.  I peeped into the cup expecting the worst. Yes it’s there. That’s my ball. The ball was properly marked with the characteristic putting aid ring around it. No doubt about it.  I got an applause from the team and was told to hold the flag for a photo Op.  I have a stroke on the hole which makes it a Hole-in-Zero net for me.  Note that I also had a birdie on the next hole, i.e hole #6. I was hot there briefly, but the performance after that was nothing to write home about.

The game was in the Houston Senior Traveller's League (HSTL) tournament.  Pice for hole-in-one is $100. I also won the closest to the pin for the hole, which is $20.  With a Nett Score of 66 for the game, I was placed second in my flight, which attracts a prize of $40.  The hole-in-one and the birdie on hole 6 fetched me another $26 in the net skin by flight.  Total prize I earned was $186.  A good payday for having fun.

Gleannloch Pines May 26th.

Once again the weather forecast was less than accurate. We thought we could get a round in yesterday ( Tuesday), but no- it rained in the morning - not the afternoon which was what the weather forecast was for days.

I guess the weather person has not figured out the “El Niño” factor as of yet.

The weather does look ugly for next week, but let’s be on the positive side and sign up early!
