We are finally back at Cypresswood. As you will see they are making progress on the Clubhouse and redoing the Cypress Course including lighting the front 9 holes. Their goal is to have everything completed by November 1.
We have 6 tee times beginning at 8:04. We will be playing our own ball on the front 9 and our modified Shamble on the back nine, with a possible twist.
The Magnificent Seven proved at Houston National that we can finish in 4 hours if we keep up with the group front of us AND are at hole #1 at least 10 minutes before our tee time.
Since we are limited to 24 players, please sign up early if you want to play.

That’s what we feel like calling ourselves. 10 people originally signed up to play. That itself was considered low. Then come the Tropical Storm Edouard syndrome, and some more chicken out. Leaving the ‘magnificent seven’.
It turned out to be a good decision for the Seven. I salute the courage and vision. A perfect day for golf you will say. Temperature at 8:30 AM when we started was about 80 degF and at 12:30PM when we finished was about 90 degF. Yes! Subtract it. It was 4 hours. Cloudy throughout the game, keeping away the heat. No rain, no gusty wind! Even at Houston National. Can you imagine?
The course was in good shape and well maintained. Green was green and fairway was fairway. 18 holes of fun. The 19thhole was even better. It was burger and beer. This time around, served a la carte. Suddenly you feel like a VIP as your food is brought to you on the table. Driving back home to Sugar Land was also a pleasure. No rain, no traffic and no stress. At 3:00pm, long time after getting home, realized the Edouard was still at Port Arthur. Not a treat or menace to anybody in metropolitan Houston yet. Kingwood included. The fear was just a ruse.
Anyway, just to make you fill you missed something if you didn’t make it. All the same, it was a good day for golf. I’m glad I made it. Next will be Cypresswood Tradition. That I know I will miss, for circumstances beyond my control. I hope it will also be another good day out for golf.
