WindRose on Tuesday

So far we just have 10 players signed up for our next round at WindRose so we could definitely use more. You can register in the members section on the website until 8p tomorrow night.

We’ll be playing our own ball on 10 - 18 and a modified shamble on holes 1 - 9 as usual.

Cost will be the usual $49 plus $4 for the prize pool and will include range balls and a delicious lunch.

WindRose Next Tuesday, 9/16

We’ll be back at WindRose next Tuesday for the next of several rounds coming up this fall.

The weather forecast is a bit warmer than last week’s but not terribly hot with no chance of rain.

I think we’ll play our normal games of our own ball on holes 10 - 18 and our modified Shamble on 1 - 9.

You can register on the website before Sunday night at 8:00.

Pairings Process

We’ve got a fine group of volunteers coordinating our outings each week and preparing the pairings. They’re not highly paid but do the work gladly. Our pairings program was developed to make their jobs easier, and that works a lot better if the coordinator doesn’t have to deal with a lot of special requests for pairings that then have to be handled manually. We also have traditionally not accommodated requests to be paired with specific groups or friends because we want our members to mix and get to know each other, and want to avoid cliques that only want to play together. We do, of course have guests play with the person who invited them for their first outing. After that everyone gets thrown into the program and the computer decides.

We bring this up because special requests are again starting to become more common. That greatly complicated the pairing process, especially when, as frequently happens, that request arrives after pairings are finished on Sunday evening, causing them to be redone.

Of course requests can be honored for good reasons and if submitted early, but please try to help make our coordinators’ life easier by limited those requests.
