a wide brimmed hat was left at the Cypresswood’s grill yesterday. It had a sleeve of balls in it. Sound familiar? If you think it’s yours contact Dan Newton at firstname.lastname@example.org. If he doesn’t hear from you, expect him to be sporting a new lid next time you see him.
Again, no golf next Tuesday.
Since next week is a holiday, we are not going to be playing. Enjoy your day off!
Twenty-two golfers (six teams) teed it up at Willow Creek for out weekly go. Every team came in complaining about how poorly they played, maybe because we had to count all four scores on each of the five par 3s. The long hitting team of Jide Ayo-Vaugh, Dan Newton, and Bob Burkman came in first with a 9-under 138. The team of Odunsi, York, Sidenblad, and Biehl cam in second with a 139. Two other teams tied for third and fourth with a 144. Par was 147.
Closest-to-the-pin on no. 17 was Mr. York (about 4-feet). On hole no. 3, Mr. York failed to put out the CTP marker, but several golfers “remembered” that they had come very close and probably should be awarded the sleeve of balls.
The weather did get a little warm toward the end heading to a high of about 95°F for the day. A great spread as usual. Also the last time we played Willow Creek players got a “rain check”. You could have used it today, but next time we need to pull them out–
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO DO THE PAIRINGS DURING THE COMING MONTHS!!
A nice day at High Meadow Ranch that got just a tad muggy over the last few holes. Typical Houston summers. The Big winner was the team of Mr. Cooper, Mr. Cramer, Mr. Kearney, and Mr. Cook with a sterling 122 (-20). In second, carded out using USGA procedures, was the team of Mr. Blackburn, Mr. Godschalk, Mr. Canning, and Mr. Burkman, also 122.
Closest to the pin on HMR no. 9 was Mr. York, about 7-feet away and on no. 11, also about 7-feet away was Mr. Carr. Mr. Carr jetted in from Colorado to tee it up with us. It is really easy to travel with Netjets nowadays.
In looking over the scorecards, there were a few errors. It pays to double check (two people add up the numbers) as people are leaving money on the table. This math is costing money.
Don’t forget to sign up for Windrose next week. Tim Van Dinter is our pairings guru.
Our tee time this next week at High Meadow Ranch is going to be 8am. That will give us a little more cool morning air.
The change in tee time isn’t permanent, but we can see how this works. Feedback is always welcome. Mike Holy is our course Coordinator for HMR. I’m sure he wants to hear from you.
REMINDER: 9AM START TIME
NOTE: Hole assignments may change. I have not heard back from the club…
We’re going to shamble to whole way since this course is a tough one. Modify the shamble as follows:
- Par threes, no shamble. Everyone plays their own ball all the way…THREE low net.
- Par fours, shamble. Drive only, TWO low net
- Par fives, shamble. Drive and second shot, ONE low net
We’re playing Raveneaux next week. It’s a long, tough course, but lunch is always great.
Please note out start time at Raveneaux is always 9am. See you out there!
